Service and maintenance of technical security systems

The term »maintenance of technical security systems« is generally understood as ensuring conditions for uninterrupted operation of technical security systems.

 

The technical security systems are intended for automatic detection of undesirable events (burglary, fire …), the selection and control over the crossing to important areas of the facilities or serves as assistance with surveillance of facilities and buildings of major importance. These systems are intended for protection of persons and property, that is why our customers expect a high level of reliability and efficiency of such operations. In order to comply with such high level of reliability and efficiency, these systems are very specifically constructed and built, namely, they are based on state-of-the-art electronic technologies and require very professional planning and installation.

 

The user makes the first step towards reliable and effective protection by selecting a reliable, experienced and professionally qualified tenderer with a suitable licence. Such tenderer certainly provides a suitable technical solution and is able to explain to the customer why the lowest price does not represent the basic criteria when choosing among numerous tenderers.


Later, when the technical security system is already installed, additional conditions must be continuously ensured in order such system serves its general purpose that is the protection of persons and property. In this context, it is of major importance to provide the professional service and regular maintenance. Namely, the technical protection systems must be, as all other technical appliances, adequately maintained and serviced.

 

What does maintenance include?

The term »maintenance of technical protection systems« is generally understood as ensuring conditions for uninterrupted operation of technical security systems. Our company is striving to put a proper amount of emphasis to maintenance of technical protection systems. This includes much more than simple care for the functioning of the equipment. It is about maintaining efficiency and reliability of functioning of the security system. Maintenance is in the broadest sense defined as a set of activities, implemented by the operator and the customer, who ordered security activities. The most important activities, among others, cover the following: proper application, regular professional examinations, and expert repairs of damages, advisory services, general renewals and modifications to the newly created situations in the protected building.

Why decide for regular maintenance?


Among many reasons in favour of regular maintenance, we highlighted the following below listed reasons:

 

  • The intended purpose of premises often changes in the protected facilities (for example, one larger place is broken down into certain number of smaller rooms, previously »irrelevant« office changes into a storage facility for valuable technical equipment …). Moreover, because the technical protection was planned and installed in accordance with the first intended purpose of use, the new changes often interrupt the functionality of protection; namely, the system no longer serves its original purpose due to such newly introduced changes.

  • People, who manage the protection system, change a lot and in addition to that, they are often not properly educated regarding its application. This significantly decreases the efficiency and reliability of the system. The users have to be informed again regarding the operation of the system …

  • The technical protection systems are installed with components with limited period of operation (for example batteries for redundant power supply). Their characteristics change concerning the daily burdening, which vary from one system to another and a unique consumption pattern unfortunately does not exist. That is why these batteries have to be regularly checked and replaced after a certain period.

  • The system is also installed with elements (sensors, camera objectives), the functioning of which severely effects the environment in which they operate (dust, moist….). These elements have to be regularly cleaned and repeatedly set.

  • The system maintenance – for example those for automatic fire detection – is statutory and from this point of view obligatory.

How to implement regular maintenance?

We perform regular periodical examinations in contractually agreed terms that are from one to four examinations per year within the framework of regular maintenance. We recommend our customers such number of regular examinations concerning the recommendations from the manufacturer of the installed equipment, concerning the actual risk level within the protected facility, the type and complexity of technical protection, concerning the conditions in which such system operates and in accordance with the existing statutory regulations.

When a written agreement on regular maintenance is concluded with the customer, we list the facility in our annual plan for regular maintenance – on which basis we later perform examinations. The customer no longer has to worry for orders because our company will take care of regular implementation of maintenance activities within the previously agreed terms.
Implementation of periodical examination includes:

 

  • Review and cleaning of the agreed number or all elements of the system,

  • Functional testing of all system units,

  • Functional testing of the system as a whole,

  • Measurements and calibrations of system's electrical parameters,

  • Necessary resets in the system,

  • Testing of functioning of the alarm signal transfers,

  • Renewal of instruction manual and, if necessary, a repeated training of users,

  • Providing the customer with advisory services with regard to increasing the security level of the facility

  • Preparation of reports regarding the implemented examination.

Technical protection maintenance helps us to ensure conditions for proper and correct functioning of the system, but mostly to ensure proper operation, when needed the most. The efficiency and reliability of functioning of the security systems is maintained by regular preventive examinations.

Service department
Our company ensures our customers a 24-hour service department regarding trouble-shooting of technical protection system with a very adjustable response time (4 hours or less) and eliminates errors as soon as possible. In case of a major repair our company may, in agreement with the customer, organise a replacement appliance for the duration of the repair. This way we are able to assure continuous functionality of technical protection.


Who implements maintenance?

Services of regular contractual maintenance and servicing are performed by a group of adequately qualified, equipped and licensed security technicians with rich working experiences of a number of years. Professional competence of our security technicians is maintained by regular trainings and with internal and external educational programmes at our suppliers. In addition to specific technical knowledge, required in the field of technical protection, we also put great emphasis to other knowledge, which qualify our security technicians to be able to identify the actual security situation on the protected facility and provide a professional advice to our customers.


We put great emphasis on the professional competence of our security technicians, namely, it is not only important to eliminate an error but also to determine why it appeared in the first place and how to prevent it in the future.


What can users do regarding the maintenance?

Customers and users of technical security systems can do a lot on their own in order to ensure efficiency and reliability of technical protection, however, we would like to stress, that this kind of maintenance cannot replace an examination, performed by an adequately qualified professional.
We shall emphasise the following:

 

  • They should thoroughly read the instruction manual, make correct use of the system and handle in accordance with the instructions,

  • They should require from professionals, to introduce them with the system configuration and how it operates; this way it will be easier for them to recognize any errors in the system and notify the service department regarding such occurrence in due time;

  • Every time they question in the correct operation of the system they are kindly asked to obtain a professional opinion form the service department;

  • In case they reorganize their premises (move their furniture, change the intended purpose of the premises…), they shall always check the influence of such changes on the functionality of the technical protection.
